Chers parents et enfants,

To celebrate the French National Day, Bastille Day on 14th July, each year group have recorded a poem and some French songs for you to enjoy towards a whole school competition. You can view the recordings for all year groups below

In Reception classes we read the story of The Hundred Decker Bus by Mike Smith. The children loved this adventurous story and went on to make their very own. You can see some of the pictures drawn my Monet and Matisse class below. Look how tall the bus is!
Do ask your children about the story as I think it has become a favourite of theirs.

Our children were very moved by the death of Prince Philip and decided to cheer up the queen by sending her some pictures and letters. These have been mounted on card and sent to the Queen.

Year 1 Hindu Temple Visit

At St Jérôme School in Religious Education we learn about different faiths and this term in Year 1 we have been learning about Hinduism. As we did last year, we will be visiting a local Hindu Temple in Harrow with the children. This will enable the children to have a secure understanding of the religion.

The children had the opportunity to explore this Hindu place of worship and learn more about the religion in an informative and exciting way.

We attended LDBS service at St Paul’s Cathedral

We were delighted to attend the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) service for schools at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday this week. This annual service is to give thanks for the 160 LDBS schools, including our school. The theme this year was ‘Let Your Light Shine’. Our previous school council members attended the service, and two of them proudly carried a banner on the theme.

Reception Celebrate Chinese New Year

Reception classes, Monet and Matisse, have been learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated by many people across the world.

Our first task after watching a video of dragon dancing was to make our own dragon. Next we made lanterns and masks to retell the story of how the Jade Emperor wanted to name each year after an animal for their zodiac calendar. On Wednesday, we shared our knowledge with the rest of the school through our dragon dance, accompanied by our musicians, following this we acted out the story of the Chinese zodiac, twelve year cycle. We finished with a song wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.

Our children rose to the challenge of presenting an assembly to their fellow pupils with great enthusiasm and confidence.

Year 2 Visit to Windsor Castle

On Monday 20th January Year 2 enjoyed a visit to Windsor Castle.

We enjoyed our tour of the castle and some children were even chosen to dress up! The staff at the castle commented on how well behaved the children were. The visit is part of the Year 2 topic:- Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. The children learned all about the story of the oldest, inhabited castle in the world!
