I am sure you will have already heard the deeply sad news about the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Her inspiration and steadfast faithful service to the nation over so many years will be greatly missed. We join together with people all over the world who mourn her passing and pray for King Charles and members of the Royal Family at this difficult time.
This is naturally an unsettling time for us all and marks a significant change in the life of our nation. Over the coming days, individually, as a community and as a nation we will want to express our thoughts, feelings and gratitude for our longest serving monarch.
Our children will most likely be aware of the sad news and may have questions or concerns and we need to offer the opportunity for them to talk about their thoughts and feelings. We can ask them what they know and we can ask them how they feel. We can share with them how the unexpected news that someone has died makes us feel and that we experience many different emotions including feeling sad, upset, shocked, confused or worried. These feelings are normal. Hearing about the death of someone in public life can also remind us of those we have loved who have died and trigger a range of emotions in us. If you feel that your child or your family would benefit from support, please speak with a member of the staff team.
Tomorrow the priority will be as far as is possible to maintain continuity and consistency for the children. Staff will gather before school to ensure we are well prepared and I will lead collective worship for the children in which we will appropriately acknowledge the news.
As soon as further arrangements are confirmed and we have received further guidance from the Diocese I will communicate this with you. It is intended that over the coming days the school will collate a book of condolence.

May Queen Elizabeth II and all those who have died, rest in peace and rise in glory and may all who mourn this night receive comfort, strength and hope.
