Dedicated Class Artists

7 Aug 2024

In previous years the children of Saint Jérôme School have had a world-renowned, French or British, artist linked to their class to promote the joy of art and develop a curiosity about culture. The Summer Reading Challenge

4 Aug 2024

The Summer Reading Challenge is returning again this year to all libraries in Harrow.  We hope that this year even more children will take part in this national reading-for-pleasure event.

The challenge is free of charge and also available online, making it possible for every child to take part and to improve their reading skills while having fun over the summer; ending on Saturday 7th September.

The theme this year is Creativity, and the library service will be working with Aardman Animations, offering special model-making workshops over the launch weekend 6th-7th July, themed activities in branches and an exclusive library membership card featuring the much-loved character, Gromit.

Back by popular demand this year, at the end of the challenge, those children who complete six books will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a family ticket to Wembley Stadium.

The children from the Art Club visited the National Gallery on Tuesday 16th July 2024.

17 Jul 2024

They started by sketching Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square before entering the gallery and contemplating all the extraordinary works that the gallery contains. They were able to admire the works of Picasso, Monet, Da Vinci and even Van Gogh. For a moment of relaxation, the children drew their favourite painting from the Impressionists’ room.

The children were inspired and amazed by the paintings on display and we hope they will put into practice some of their inspiration during the Art Club next year.

A big “Thank you” to Ms. Mitrousi and Mrs. Taylor for their help.

Have you got a couple of hours spare to make a difference in our community?

29 Mar 2024

We are looking for a enthusiastic and reliable volunteer, 2 or 3 hours a week, to help us to re-brand and streamline our Pre-loved Uniform Shop. We have found a new online platform we would like to use which will help us to do this.  This platform will make it easier for parents to see availability of items and payments can be made easily online.

Our Pre-loved Uniform Shop is a life line for many of our families and raises funds for our school.

If you would like to volunteer for this project please contact a member of the office team at [email protected].  Please note this is an ongoing commitment and it would be wonderful to develop a small team to ease the workload.

Staff share the traditional Galette des Rois

7 Jan 2024

Each year at the beginning of the Epiphany Term Mme Chadier bakes and shares a galette with the staff team at our Staff Training event.

The galette des rois is a cake traditionally shared at Epiphany. It celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem. Composed of a puff pastry cake, with a small charm, the fève, hidden inside, it is usually filled with frangipane. The galette charm for us was chocolate! The cake is then cut into as many slices as there are guests at the table.

The youngest and most nimble guest is under the table making the critical decision as to who receives which slice of galette as not every slice will contain a charm. The aim is to be served a slice containing the charm which means the recipient will be King / Queen for the day and wear a crown.

News from Year 6

20 Dec 2023

Year 6 are studying Britain at War and recently visited the Imperial War Museum.

“On the day of our trip, we travelled to the museum by tube on the Bakerloo line from Harrow & Wealdstone to Lambeth North. It was an extremely lengthy journey. After we got off the tube, we strolled to our destination. The second we entered the museum, we got to explore all over the place. There were hundreds of artefacts. We saw tanks, fighter jets, paintings, letters from the war and so many more.
We had a sheet to fill in while analysing the artefacts; the sheet was like a scavenger hunt. After a little bit of exploring, we got to have our lunch (it was yummy). After lunch, we got to explore more.
The time we had after lunch gave us more opportunity to note down our opinions. A lot of people in our year would’ve liked to have more time looking around.
Overall, it was a fascinating experience and an amazing chance to learn more about our topic (Britain At War). I would love to go there again.
