News from Year 5

20 Sep 2024

On Thursday 19th September 2024, pupils in Year 5 had a special music session, thanks to the Mozart 250 Discovery Project. Everybody loved it!

There was a lady playing the cello and someone singing, which we all joined in with. We played some rhythm games too. The people who were teaching us were real artists. We also learned about some Italian and French pieces of music and we played a game in which we had to guess the animal being portrayed, according to the piece of music that was played by the cello. As we are a bilingual school, we had to say the animal in French as well. We also learned all about the different parts of the cello. It was a fantastic session

Dedicated Class Artists

7 Aug 2024

In previous years the children of Saint Jérôme School have had a world-renowned, French or British, artist linked to their class to promote the joy of art and develop a curiosity about culture. The Summer Reading Challenge

4 Aug 2024

The Summer Reading Challenge is returning again this year to all libraries in Harrow.  We hope that this year even more children will take part in this national reading-for-pleasure event.

The challenge is free of charge and also available online, making it possible for every child to take part and to improve their reading skills while having fun over the summer; ending on Saturday 7th September.

The theme this year is Creativity, and the library service will be working with Aardman Animations, offering special model-making workshops over the launch weekend 6th-7th July, themed activities in branches and an exclusive library membership card featuring the much-loved character, Gromit.

Back by popular demand this year, at the end of the challenge, those children who complete six books will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a family ticket to Wembley Stadium.

The children from the Art Club visited the National Gallery on Tuesday 16th July 2024.

17 Jul 2024

They started by sketching Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square before entering the gallery and contemplating all the extraordinary works that the gallery contains. They were able to admire the works of Picasso, Monet, Da Vinci and even Van Gogh. For a moment of relaxation, the children drew their favourite painting from the Impressionists’ room.

The children were inspired and amazed by the paintings on display and we hope they will put into practice some of their inspiration during the Art Club next year.

A big “Thank you” to Ms. Mitrousi and Mrs. Taylor for their help.

Have you got a couple of hours spare to make a difference in our community?

29 Mar 2024

We are looking for a enthusiastic and reliable volunteer, 2 or 3 hours a week, to help us to re-brand and streamline our Pre-loved Uniform Shop. We have found a new online platform we would like to use which will help us to do this.  This platform will make it easier for parents to see availability of items and payments can be made easily online.

Our Pre-loved Uniform Shop is a life line for many of our families and raises funds for our school.

If you would like to volunteer for this project please contact a member of the office team at office@stjeromebilingual.org.  Please note this is an ongoing commitment and it would be wonderful to develop a small team to ease the workload.
